Job Description
Green Room Theatre Company Coachella Valley (GRTCCV) is a nonprofit theatre company based in Coachella Valley. Since 2008, we’ve produced a variety of plays, focusing on bringing diverse stories and voices to our community. GRTCCV is the only touring theatre company in the Coachella Valley, taking professional theatre into neighborhoods around the valley.
Our mission is to bring professional theatre, dance performances, and quality education directly to under-served communities. We are looking to teach classes on acting, design, makeup, costume, and additional courses as the program evolves. Our ideal candidate is an enthusiastic artist with theatre, dance, and movement experience. Fluent Spanish is not required, but it is a plus. Experience with Ballet Folklorico is particularly desirable. You will be assisting the Teaching Artist with teaching ages ranging 5-18, at different levels of experience at churches, community centers, and school sites. Each class will culminate with a recital or public performance coordinated by the GRTCCV staff.
Teaching Artist Duties:
- Develop and teach theatre education courses, including reading comprehension and play analysis, beginner-level acting, and other related topics.
- Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages artistic expression and critical thinking.

- Facilitate interactive and engaging activities that connect theatre education to students’ lives and experiences.
- Collaborate with the Education Director to expand course offerings based on community needs and student interests.
- Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their artistic and academic growth.
- Assist in the development of curriculum materials, scripts, and classroom resources.
- Engage with parents, schools, and community partners to promote theatre education and recruit students for classes.
- Maintain a safe and professional learning environment aligned with GRTCCV’s mission and values.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Background in theatre, education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching or working with youth in an educational or arts-related setting is desired, but not necessary.
- Knowledge of acting techniques, play analysis, and reading comprehension strategies.
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans and adapt content for different learning levels.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.
- Passion for arts accessibility and working with under-resourced communities.
